Rare first editions of four works by Coleridge bound in one, lacking half title of Christabel, half title present of Zapolya. Newly rebound very handsomely in half tan leather with marbled boards , raised bands, red labels with gilt title and emblems in the compartments, new endpapers, bottom corner of block (pages) bumped and very worn, heavy foxing throughout, a few old Cork library stamps sparodically throughout including title pages. Now a very handsome presentable copy . Rare 128pp.

This is the scarce large paper reprint set, with 20 illustrations by Thomas Stothard & engraved by C Heath as called for.These have been very handsomely rebound in full dark brown leather wtith raised bands gilt ruling to the same, red title and vol labels gilt titles and sailing ships in two compartments and Robinson under the shade of a tree with his dog in the other two compartments date at base all in gilt, marbled endpapers new endpapers. A faded contemporary ink signature on the title page & pencilled writing the top of the preface page of vol 1 and again on half title & rear of frontis vol 2, this volume has old water staining from the half title stretching almost halfway across the page becoming less apparrent through to page 97. A list of Defoes works stretching to some ten pages follows the long Preface . Vol 1 429pp. vol 2 415pp.

A fine rare set of four volumes by Anna Maria Porter, b1780-d1832 . She was the daughter of surgeon in the Irish army who died young, her mother struggeled to bring her, her sister & brother up but the girls became authors and the brother an artist of some note. Vol 1, 358 pp, vol 2 , 303pp, vol, 3, 303pp. vol 4, 320pp. All in lovely condition with tan leather spine and corners black title & vol label gilt tiltes, ruling & bands, boards a duck egg blue with tiny gold flecks. (Charming book plate in each volume of Margaret Rutledge Nee Bruen she was married to the Rev Francis Ruttledge rector of Kilmaine Co Mayo Ireland ) RARE.

A rare two volume first edition set on the Irish Rebellion from Holts own manuscript, very handsomely rebound in dark blue leather raised bands with gilt ruling on spine with title, author and date at base all in gilt with gilt Irish harps in the compartments. Blue marbled boards leather corners , new end papers some pages a trifle marked foxed & slightly yellowed otherwise very good, rough cut edges, An engraved frontis of Holt, Holt was General of the Irish rebellion army in the 1798 uprising there is a contemporary ink signature on the top of the title page vol 1 & again on the half title page vol 2 this vol has a facsmile of Holts hand writing as the frontis. Vol 1267pp. vol 2 432pp. A very fine & rare set.

Opposite Burlington House , Piccadilly & Birchin Printed for J Debrett & Vernor Hood 1796 First Edition Quarter Leather Very Good Large 8vo Frontis of Hastings 
A very handsome rebound copy of this rare first edition, bound in dark leather with raised bands and gilt ruling to each, red title lable gilt titles and ships and anchors to the compartments date at base all in gilt, marbled boards leather corners, new end papers, on the remaining original ep is written in a fine flourishing hand "Wm MacDermot Lieut 88th regt , bought at Cape Town Apr 28th this is crossed out & underneath the 4th 1807" again on the top of the title page he has signed his name again & " at Sea April 13th 1807" . There is an engraved frontis dated 1788 . page 321 has small nibble from the bottom not effecting the text the last few pages are foxed & a trifle worn due to the rear board having been missing probably for years 330 pages of small text, included is the fold out plan of the high court parliament with seating arrangements etc. NB William MacDermot became the Prince of Connaught this book was bought by us along with the entire library of his descendents at the family home Coolavin Co Sligo Ireland, please see for many others from the library.
