A very handsomely bound set, we believe Cork bound, similar work has been seen by us , (we purchased these from an old Cork family) under the marbled boards which has now been restuck down were Cork newspaper adverts. Spines have five compartments with small blind geometric diamond patterns filling them, between heavy gilt ruled patterned bands , dark maroon label with title & roman vol number. Missing volumes 9 & 10 , vol 4 has a worm hole at the bottom of hinge corner having travelled through all pages. Vol 7 & 8 were perhaps stored apart as they have chipped labels & books are damp stained causing loss to the bottom of marbleling on boards, holes & loss to marbled feps & effecting most pages with holes & lace patterning causing loss to text, but spines still look very good . A very strikingly handsome part set.
