Bookplate of Commander Charles Skrine brother of Molly Keane the author, Bookplate was designed by Maine Jellet the Irish artist, gift inscription to Charles from Theo his first wife dated 1945.. Dj is a little soiled and darkened never the less a lovely evocative book of day`s gone by.

Finely bound in dark brown morocco leather with gilded raised bands gitl titles, marbled boards , edges & endpapers, seven coloured folding maps & four woodcuts, some underling in pencil and a tiny amount of foxing as is often found. Stanley traveled to Egypt & the middle east the previous year, he became Dean of Westminster abbey. This copy is from the private library of The macdermot Prince of Connaught, Coolavin house Co Sligo. Rare.

A scarce first edition second state ( page 123 line 17 visitor corrected to sister) 39 plates and frontis of young Charles sitting in a chair all ilustrated by Phiz, plates are foxed as is always the case. Spine divided into five compartments with small geometric snakelike design impressed into the brown leather as is commonly found on Cork bindings (we therefore believe this is a contemporary Irish binding) , black title label and gilt, marbled boards and endpapers, neat signature of a former owner on ep 625pp. A small hole within the top compartment does not detract from this handsome binding.

Rare first editions of four works by Coleridge bound in one, lacking half title of Christabel, half title present of Zapolya. Newly rebound very handsomely in half tan leather with marbled boards , raised bands, red labels with gilt title and emblems in the compartments, new endpapers, bottom corner of block (pages) bumped and very worn, heavy foxing throughout, a few old Cork library stamps sparodically throughout including title pages. Now a very handsome presentable copy . Rare 128pp.
