A fantastically rebound set by premier & fabulous American binder Raoul Bollin of San Diego, the complete three volumes 1954/54/55 1st UK editions , the Fellowship of the Ring is a first impression dated 1954, The Two Towers is a first impression 1954, The Return of the King is also a first impression first state without the signature mark `4` or the infamous slipped type All maps are tipped into the rear of the books along with the original spines of each book the the set has been fully rebound in black Morocco leather with red leather inserts to the spine with title, date & author in gilt in the compartments with raied bands & gilt tooling , each book has wonderful marbled end papers created by Joan Ajala ( Australia) silk ribbon markers are bound in all edges gilded. All housed in a custom made slip case mirroring the image of the books . Each book has the title and the author in gilt on the front board in Tengwar script , & JRRT monogram on the rear boards single gilt rulings to both inside & outside edges. The case mirroring the books with the front boards stating the title Lord of the Rings & the full name John Ronald Reuel Tolkien again in Tengar Scrit as well as a ring & eye devise from tolkiens original UK dustjacket design . The rear of the case features a gilt stamped design featuring the Ring Poem again in Tengwar script . This is an extremely handsome rare set in fine condition through out all books with no issues or faults a must have for lovers of the Ring.
